A 30-year-old female soccer coach has been charged with multiple sexual offences involving one of her teenage players.
Vanessa Young faces one count each of sexual assault, sexual interference, sexual exploitation, luring a child under 18, and luring a child under 16, the Edmonton Police Service said in its mid-week news release.
The charges, laid Wednesday, come after the EPS was contacted earlier this month about a potential relationship between Young and a youth soccer player she coached.
The youth, whose name is protected by a standard publication ban in such cases, was 15 years old when the abuse allegedly started late last year.
Police said the youth, identified as a teen girl by the Edmonton Journal and court documents, is currently receiving support through Edmonton’s Zebra Child and Youth Advocacy Centre.
EPS added that they believe there could be additional victims and are encouraging anyone with additional information to contact them.
Investigators are urging any other complainants to contact police at 780-423-4567.
Thank you the Late Premier Jim Prentice for this comment, Look in the mirror. This comment shows how far parents are letting the ATA run our children's teachings. As care givers for our children we have to protect them from all things you do not believe in!! Example Christen Values
