The Liberal government announced it is expanding its targeted immigration draws to include more candidates with experience in “transport occupations” as part of its Express Entry system, despite growing concerns over dangerous driving and truck driver training fraud.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada said the move is intended to address ongoing labour shortages in key sectors of the economy, including in the transportation sector. Officials say the category-based selection process allows Canada to prioritize applicants with specific skills.
