The federal government has appointed an “online safety” advisory panel stacked with academics and activists known for pushing for more censorship on digital platforms, focusing on issues like “extremism” and “misinformation.”

Notably absent are advocates for civil liberties, constitutional freedoms and free speech.

Bernie Farber is key among them. Farber launched the Canadian Anti-Hate Network, an organization that tracks and publicly labels groups it considers extremist, has a seat on the panel.
