A Jamaican woman who was served a deportation order from Canada more than five years after being found guilty of killing her stepson has been awarded the right to stay on the basis that she would be mistreated upon her return.

Nichelle Nikiss Rowe obtained permanent residence in 2005, but it was removed in response to her committing second-degree murder on her stepson, with an application for her removal filed with the Federal Court.
