EXCLUSIVE: “The war on cars is ending” Dreeshen celebrates court ruling on bike lanes
Alberta’s transport minister, Devin Dreeshen is cheering on an Ontario Court of Appeal ruling that bike lanes are not a constitutional right, saying “the war on cars is ending.”
Alberta’s Minister of Transportation and Economic Corridors, Devin Dreeshen, is celebrating an Ontario Court of Appeals decision that ruled that governments can make transportation decisions based on what works directly for communities, removing bike lanes if they deem it fit.
The Ontario Court of Appeals ruled unanimously in favour of the Ontario government’s call to overturn a previous court decision which would have prevented the provincial government from removing bike lanes downtown Toronto.
Dreeshen spoke with Juno News in an exclusive interview, saying the ruling removes the main obstacle Alberta could have faced from activists who would present a legal challenge to the province while it drafts legislation to remove their own choice bike lanes.
