Local businesses in downtown Oshawa say they are struggling with persistent crime issues and an overburdened police force. Shop owners say homeless people roam freely, drug users openly shoot up, and thieves steal with zero consequences, all while police seemingly have their hands tied.

Some businesses call the cops almost every day, often multiple times, and still get nowhere. One store owner said if calling the police actually solved anything, he’d be calling daily.
