An activist group claiming to represent black parents accused the Upper Grand District School Board of systemic racism, calling on administrators to undertake “urgent, ongoing work” to “dismantle” systems the group claims are making black children suffer “immeasurably.”

The group’s letter to the Ministry of Education claimed black students in the board face “deeply entrenched and highly dangerous anti-Black racism,” leading to trauma, anxiety, and even self-harm.
