The Royal Canadian Mounted Police told Juno News it is working with its legal team and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation to reach a resolution on behalf of the RCMP Veterans Association after the veterans’ group confirmed its members were targeted and, in some cases, traumatized by a CBC sting project that has since been paused.

Sources corroborate that there were multiple former RCMP officers targeted in the operation and lured to the CBC Vancouver studio under false pretences, where they were subsequently humiliated.

In an email to Juno News, the RCMP said the national police force is concerned about the mental health and well-being of its veterans after the CBC allegedly lured former officers under the guise that they would be honoured for their service to Canada, only to confront them before a live audience with accusations and insults portraying the RCMP as an evil organization that should be dissolved.

“The RCMP was informed of an incident involving an RCMP Veteran’s Association (RCMPVA) member who volunteered for a CBC documentary series about an episode featuring life after retirement from policing,” the spokesperson said in the statement. “The veteran has relayed her experience and describes being subjected to a prank during filming in Vancouver in March 2026.”

The RCMP stated that since receiving the report from the female veteran, it has been working “on behalf of the RCMP Veterans Association to seek a resolution,” including by communicating the RCMP’s concerns directly to the CBC and “engaging” with its Legal Services Team.
