A word cloud displayed during a Muslim Association of Canada youth workshop flashed the words “Jew free” alongside other prompts about the kind of community participants wanted to build.

The “Visionaries of the Ummah: Youth Activism Lab” exercise took place at the 2026 MAC convention, where students were also encouraged to develop “action plans” for shaping society and aligning their careers and activism with service to the global Ummah.

Speaking to young attendees at the 2026 Muslim Association of Canada convention, Khaled Al-Qazzaz outlined what he described as Hasan al-Banna’s model for Islamic revival: strengthening the individual, then the family, then the community, then the Ummah.

His remarks were followed by a youth activism workshop in which students were instructed to identify societal problems and begin organizing solutions rooted in service to the global Muslim community.

Al-Qazzaz, a former foreign policy adviser to Egypt’s Freedom and Justice Party president Mohamed Morsi, had earlier praised Hasan al-Banna, founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, as a model for youth organizing, institution building and Islamic revival.
