EXCLUSIVE: Liberal Thomas Keeper hit with allegations of physical abuse, sexual assault
Thomas Keeper, the Liberal Party’s candidate in the swing riding of Calgary Confederation, faces a series of disturbing allegations from former friends and associates.
Thomas Keeper, the Liberal Party’s candidate in the swing riding of Calgary Confederation, faces a series of disturbing allegations from former friends and associates, including claims of unwanted sexual advances, physical aggression toward his spouse, and verbal abuse against at least one woman.
Juno News spoke with over half a dozen sources that have detailed accounts of Thomas Keeper’s disturbing past behaviour that all occurred prior to seeking public office with the Liberal Party of Canada.
All allegations in this story have been put to Keeper in hopes that he would either confirm, deny, or add context to these explosive allegations. Keeper has so far refused to comment on this story; if he changes his mind we will update the story accordingly.
He Bragged About Forcing His Wife
Brett Pearce, a management consultant in Calgary who encountered Keeper at several social events, recalls the real estate agent talking casually about disregarding his wife’s consent.
“He was talking about [how] whenever he wants to have sex with his wife he just forces her to do so.” Pearce said in an interview. “I said, ‘is she okay with that?’ he's like: ‘I’m her husband. She has to be okay with it.’”
Another Calgary businessman who has had intimate dinner conversations with Keeper told Juno News the subject of the Liberal candidate’s marriage came up so often that he finally challenged him.
“She complains about him forcing himself on her, she's like, 'it's horrible,'” the witness recounted.
“And I've told him to his face, that’s f****** rape, Thomas. Your wife says, ‘no,’ it's fucking no, not 'you'll take it' [...] whether you like it or not."
Juno News attempted to speak with Keeper’s wife about these allegations, but she was shielded by Liberal Party staffers. The second source requested their name be removed out of fear of personal and corporate retaliation from Keeper and the Liberal government.
Verbal Attacks and Sexual Harassment Allegations
The two witnesses are not the only ones with shocking allegations about Keeper. Multiple realtors in the Calgary area spoke to Juno News describing Keeper’s behaviour as bizarre and erratic, including verbally attacking other real estate colleagues.
“He’s a psychopath. I am not qualified to give mental health diagnoses but the guy is a psychopath,” one realtor said.
This source is a Calgary area realtor who has had business dealings with Keeper. He also spoke to Juno News on the condition of anonymity, as talking about another real estate agent risks professional sanctions in Alberta.
Allegations of Verbal Harassment Against a Woman
A woman who spoke to Juno News that had socialized with Keeper at group events says his cruel remarks about her appearance left her in tears:
“He’s not someone I would ever want to be in a room alone with.” “I left that party in tears. I didn't let anyone see, but [...] I was pretty shaken by what he said to me.”
Juno News reached out to Keeper about this conversation requesting he add context to our understanding of this interaction.
Alleged Physical Aggression at a Public Event
One of the most public incidents, corroborated by Brett Pearce and another witness, reportedly took place at a prominent 2023 industry function described as a “top 40 under 40” event in Calgary. Pearce told Juno News that he confronted Keeper about him allegedly sexually assaulting a man in his twenties who happened to also be in the vicinity. Peace says Keeper began threatening the young man.
According to Pearce’s recollection, Keeper “started screaming at [him] saying ‘you’re going to pay for this!’” drawing the attention of Keeper’s wife.
When she approached to see what was going on, Pearce and other witnesses say Keeper grabbed her so forcefully that she was knocked off of her feet.
“He physically grabbed his wife, Maggie, and dragged her off her high heels,” Pearce said. “It was absolutely nuts.”
Another observer from that same night, who asked that their name not be used, says people were too shocked to intervene, fearing Keeper’s reaction might escalate.
Election Context and Lack of Response
The Liberal Party has been making inroads in Alberta, citing what it calls “integrity, dignity, and compassion.” Critics now question how thoroughly the party vetted Keeper before naming him as their candidate for Calgary Confederation. Several of Keeper’s former associates say the behaviour they describe is widely known among his social circles.
Juno News reached out to Keeper multiple times for comment on these allegations. We reached out by phone, email, and text. Juno News also tried to speak with him in person at his office where he fled the scene and called the police. When the police interviewed him about Juno News’ attendance at his office, Keeper appeared to have lied to the officers saying the writer of this story got physical with him and that he would be possibly filing a restraining order on that basis.
As a final effort to get his side of the story, Juno News attempted to hand Keeper an envelope containing these allegations. Keeper refused to accept the envelope, so we deposited the questions through his office mail slot while he and his campaign team were in the building.
As of publication, Keeper has not responded to our questions.
Juno News also contacted the Liberal Party via their official media dashboard on their website. We were trying to understand what vetting Mark Carney’s official Green Light Committee did for Keeper, but the party has not responded.
None of the allegations have been proven in court, and Juno News is not currently aware of any criminal charges that have ever been filed against Keeper.
Juno News spoke to eight sources who personally know Keeper.
Ethical Note
Juno News follows responsible communication standards, offering Keeper and relevant party officials the opportunity to respond. Two individuals who allege direct harassment requested anonymity due to fear of retaliation and potential professional consequences. The quotes presented here come from firsthand interviews, recorded conversations, and corroborating testimonies.
Any further statements or clarifications from Keeper or the Liberal Party will be published if received.
Wow - sounds like the Liberals are scraping the bottom of the barrel here.
Good Job Keean.
