A leaked internal email shows the federal government has directed the RCMP to identify nearly $100 million in annual savings, as part of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s cost-cutting initiative.
The leaked email, obtained by True North from a whistleblower, informed members on Wednesday that due to federal government initiatives, the federal police force would have to reduce its estimated budget of over $6 billion by two per cent annually for three years.
