Liberal Leader Mark Carney is promising to change the future of homebuilding in Canada by championing prefabricated and modular homes, but housing experts are doubtful that the policy will address Canada’s housing crisis.
Carney said these types of homes can reduce completion time by up to 50 per cent, costs by up to 20 per cent, and emissions by over 20 per cent compared to traditional building methods. He pledged to allocate $25 billion in taxpayer dollars to the industry to scale it up.
