The professional body overseeing Canada’s plastic surgeons has been silent on a major recommendation from their U.S. counterparts, which advises delaying gender transition surgeries for youth until at least age 19.

Juno News reached out to the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons to ask whether it would update any of its recommendations on gender transition surgeries for youth in light of its U.S. counterpart’s position statement, but did not receive a response.
