The British Columbia Teachers’ Federation, the province’s sole K-12 teachers’ union, has been silent since it sent out a highly ideological calendar to schools and members. Rather than noting that July 1 is Canada Day, the union decided to call the anniversary of Canada’s confederation “Land Back Day.”

Former teacher and OneBC candidate Jim McMurtry released a video on X, blasting the BC teachers’ union for continuing to inject left-wing politics into schools.

In an exclusive interview with Juno News, McMurtry laid out his concerns about the calendar, stating that the union is pushing a political agenda that has endangered and could endanger the property rights of the very teachers the union purports to represent.

The British Columbia Teachers’ Federation did not respond to Juno News’ request for comment despite being informed of it over the phone.
