Edmonton Police called out over bus with snitch hotline banner
Conservative MP Roman Baber told EPS they had “no jurisdiction to limit online speech unless a criminal law is broken.”
A city bus was seen decalled with a banner that read “See Hate. Report Hate.” as part of a campaign sponsored by Edmonton Police that encourages residents to report online posts believed to be hurtful to authorities.
The campaign was first launched in Sept. 2024 by the Crime Stoppers Association of Edmonton and Northern Alberta to remind “Albertans that there is a safe and anonymous way to report incidents of hate, discrimination, and intolerance.”
