Doug Ford CLASHES with DeSantis as trade tensions hit tourism
Doug Ford claims Florida is “hurting” as Canadians stay home, but Governor Ron DeSantis fires back with record-breaking tourism numbers. Brian Lilley joins Marc Patrone for the breakdown.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis are trading jabs after Ford announced he won’t be travelling to Florida this winter — and suggested the Sunshine State’s tourism industry is “hurting” as Canadians allegedly boycott the U.S. amid trade tensions.
That claim didn’t sit well with DeSantis, who fired back on X, pointing to record-breaking tourism numbers and reminding Canadians that Florida continues to “break tourism records and win Stanley Cups.”
Ford’s comments came during a news conference in Niagara Falls, where he announced a multi-billion-dollar plan to transform the city into a world-class tourism destination, including expanded gaming, a new theme park, and major airport upgrades aimed at attracting longer stays and international visitors.
Toronto Sun columnist Brian Lilley joins Marc Patrone to break down the political spat, why Florida appears largely immune to Canada-U.S. travel tensions, and whether Ford’s increasingly hostile rhetoric toward the United States could ultimately hurt Ontario tourism.
Plus, Lilley weighs in on turmoil inside the Conservative Party as Pierre Poilievre faces caucus defections ahead of a leadership review. With affordability dominating voter concerns and grocery prices still soaring, Poilievre is betting that staying focused on cost-of-living issues will keep conservatives united — but questions remain over whether he can hold his caucus together.

Does anyone in their right mind give a rats ass what Doug Ford thinks or says. I have been a Conservative all my life and this current premier is a donkey. He makes himself look assinine and can do nothing but harm to the people of Canada.
Ford should keep his mouth shut.
