Prime Minister Mark Carney is taking responsibility for Canada’s collapsed trade talks with the United States, amid reports that Ontario Premier Doug Ford played a key role in torpedoing a proposed deal with Washington.
Carney was pressed on Ford’s role after the premier called the proposed deal “terrible for Canada.”

Carney, however, made clear that the buck stops with him.
“The decisions on trade are the decisions of the government of Canada,” Carney said.
“I’m the Prime Minister, ultimately, I am responsible with the cabinet for those decisions.”
