Canada’s housing crisis has prompted a controversial plea from a powerful coalition of developers to lift the ban on foreign buyers for homebuilding and new rental creation.
The Large Urban Centre Alliance, comprised of 12 companies including Diamond Corp, Mattamy Homes, Polygon Homes and Menkes, laid out its plan of 10 recommendations. Some of the recommendations shared similarities with the Conservative Party of Canada’s election pledges, such as tax breaks, rebates, and tying conditional federal funding to municipal pro-development programs.
