B.C. Premier David Eby had the dishonour to be named the winner of a “waste award” by Canada’s foremost taxpayer advocacy group for spending $354,000 on three “wood-leather soccer balls” for a photo op at an expo in Japan.

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation awarded Eby its Provincial Government Waste Award for the purchase of “wood-leather soccer balls.” The award comes with a golden pig statue.

The $354,000 purchase was made by the Eby government to procure three “wood-leather soccer balls” for a photo op featuring the premier and Agriculture Minister Lana Popham at the Osaka expo in Japan.
