Canada is heading for a population explosion, with projections from Statistics Canada showing the population could soar by over 80% of its current size by 2075, putting the country on a path to reaching the Century Initiative’s controversial target of 100 million people by the year 2100.

Statistics Canada projects that Canada’s population could increase by up to 82 per cent over the next 50 years, from an estimated 41.7 million to 75.8 million by 2075, according to a report released Tuesday.
