A transidentifying male who has been incarcerated in an Ontario prison and listed as a dangerous offender at a high risk to the safety of women, is trying to be transferred to a female prison, despite corrections officials’ warnings.

Amanda Joy Cooper, a 58-year-old inmate at the all-male Millhaven Institution near Kingston, Ontario, has been denied a transfer to a women’s prison multiple times by the Correctional Service of Canada. Cooper is reapplying after “fully completing” his gender change surgery, according to the CBC.
