After receiving millions in taxpayer subsidies, Cours Entertainment, one of Canada’s largest media and news companies, announced incoming layoffs.

The company didn’t confirm how many employees would be affected, but it’s expected to hit both those with Corus Radio and Global News.

“As part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen and sustain our news and audio divisions, we have made programming changes across the country,” said a spokesperson for the company on Wednesday. “These changes are designed to improve efficiency, support long-term sustainability, and allow us to continue supporting high-quality journalism and audio programming for our audiences.”
