York police are seeking the public’s help in finding Chengyuan Chad Li, a 27-year-old convicted sex offender who allegedly cut off his GPS monitoring device while awaiting his sentence.
York police are seeking the public’s help in finding Chengyuan Chad Li, a 27-year-old convicted sex offender who allegedly cut off his GPS monitoring device while awaiting his sentence.
York Regional Police made the public appeal in a Monday morning media release, seeking information about the whereabouts of Li.
Li was previously found guilty in May for obtaining sexual services from a minor, failure to comply with a previous judicial interim release order and mischief, but was released to await sentencing.
Police believe that on July 22, while awaiting sentencing, Li cut off his GPS ankle monitoring device and went into hiding.
The convicted criminal has been subsequently sentenced to five years in prison, but his whereabouts are presently unknown, according to authorities.
“The accused is encouraged to seek legal advice and turn himself in,” said York police.
“Investigators are reminding the public that anyone providing assistance to him may be subject to criminal charges.”
The Monday morning media release from York police follows a similar story in Edmonton, wherein twenty-one-year-old Prabhjeet Singh—who was similarly being monitored for an alleged sexual offence involving a minor in May 2025—also disappeared after allegedly removing his GPS ankle monitor.
York Regional Police did not confirm the citizenship of Li or whether he presents a flight risk. However, Canadian police estimate there could be as many as 600 missing foreign criminal offenders currently living freely in Canada.
Interesting that a convicted sex offender only gets 5 years, while Lich and Barber will get 7 years for mischief! Any more doubts about persecution of freedom of speech that doesn't fit the liberal narrative?
These sick foreign immigrants should immediately be deported back to where they came from or immediately placed into prison until their court date but unfortunately our judicial system does not punish foreign immigrants for fear this will disqualify the perpetrators from obtaining Canadian citizenship. What a joke.
