Consumer Price Index up 2.8 per cent annually in June
"June was the 17th consecutive month that grocery price inflation outpaced the all-items CPI," writes Statistics Canada.
The Consumer Price Index was up 2.8 per cent in June, compared to the same time last year, and follows a 3.2 per cent jump from May, with grocery prices continuing to outpace inflation for the last year and a half.
According to Statistics Canada, consumers paid less for gas at the pump last month compared to May, which helped to decelerate headline inflation.
