A Canadian civil liberties group is seeking an appeal in a case involving the University of British Columbia’s 2019 cancellation of a talk on Antifa violence hosted by the school’s Free Speech Club. The original decision found that the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms does not apply to UBC, meaning it cannot be sued as a public institution under the Charter.
