Conservatives call on feds to secure ports, after damning study
Following a study finding Canada's Pacific Ports to be porous, Conservatives are calling on the federal government to secure the ports, which are exploited by drug gangs.
Conservative MP Frank Caputo, the party’s public safety critic, is calling on the Liberals to secure and close Pacific ports of entry, which have been found to be left open and porous to organized crime trafficking.
Caputo released a statement on Monday, following a report from the Frontier Centre for Public Policy alleging that some of the thousands of shipping containers that move through Vancouver and Prince Rupert ports carry methamphetamine, fentanyl precursors and other contraband from around the world.
