EV sales in Canada were never enough to support a viable EV industry, For a number of reasons. The power grid can not support EV recharging. EV vehicles are more expensive to buy upfront, and impossibly expensive to maintain. Resale value of an EV is zero. There are zero qualified mechanics to repair EVs. And EV batteries are not practical when the temperature is less than -20C. A cold EV battery can not provide the Amperage and Volts to power a vehicle at low temperature.

If all of the logging trucks (about 1,200) in British Colombia were EV battery powered it would take all of the electricity Generated by the Peace River Site C dam to charge them overnight.

When it comes to inexpensive and reliable transportation there is no substitute for internal combustion and petroleum powered vehicles.

In a communist country, it would be extremely illegal to know that..

If we let the Liberal Government with the aid of the Ontario's Ford Government be in charge of the sand in the Sahara Desert, they would run out of sand in 5 years. The excuse would be climate change.

Sounds like more government embezzlement!

Watching the flooding in the Lower Mainland in BC and seeing the vehicles that were navigating the flooded streets I was wondering how the E Vs were doing in that situation and whether the batteries would survive being under water, or is just my imagination that they would NOT.

As well with the Northern temperatures plunging to -40 and -50 degrees how would the E Vs manage, again I think they would NOT

The Fraser Insitute Fall 2025 report captions "The average Canadian family spent

42% of their income on taxes last year ... housing costs for the average family are

up 25% since 2020, food costs are up 18%, and the Consumer Price Index (the cost of a fixed basket of goods and services) is up 17.4% ... the tax bite for the average family is 42% of its income—more than it spends on food, housing, and clothing combined!"

Toss in shrinking full time jobs market, layoffs across multiple sectors and low paying part time job creation, who can afford the outlay for a EV. Then there is the preventive maintenance costs with EV mechanic rates possibly higher than ICE rates.

I have yet to meet a single person who as any desire what-so-ever to get an EV under any and all circumstances and those include any and all attempts by a corrupt Government (or any Politician) to somehow attempt to force the issue.

Then again... Don't live in the GTA or a major Urban Centre or, for that matter, Canada any longer.

However...

Still am in touch with more than a few in the country I loved (and still love or at least before it started to die) and not a single one expresses any desire to own an EV regardless of where they live.

I do know one person who lives in central OntArWeOwe. He purchased an EV a couple of years ago for some reason. I have never heard anybody use those words about owning any vehicle on those cold Winter days there. He is having problems getting rid of it but he states NEVER AGAIN EVER!!

The thing I like about the cold December we are having, there are a lot less EVs clogging up the highways driving slowly because their heater, windshield wipers, fan, seat warmer, will kill their fool batteries.

It's all a scam, steal money that so many need just to launder it to slime that don't need it, sounds like Satanism to me...!!!

$2.5 million investment in the Ontario EV scam to keep Dung Ford on side. Ontario taxpayers out billions of $$$$$$ pushing a Liberal wet dream that was bound to fail. Many times in 2024 they bet against Donald Trump becoming POTUS, believing that their fellow socialist/green grifter Joe Autopen Biden would win the US election and the elites would continue to have a supply of government subsidized luxury environmentally damaging EVs. Trump won, the US green grift ended, automakers are returning production to what people want to buy, auto companies are leaving Canada,, but never mind in Canada Mr. Carndeau and the little trudeau boys caucus hold the green grifter flag high as they push the EV scam and shut down Canadian energy.

EV’s produce a high emf field as well. Not a healthy car.

At the very least you need to live in a single family home. Oops Liberal policies have raised the price of the bungalow to a million dollars. Looks like a once a week Uber trip for groceries is in your future. Once you get home you can walk around the lobby of your Soviet style concrete apartment and dream about the freedom that older Canadians once had.

More woke Liberal scams that we know will bankrupt what's left of taxpayers. Canada needs a restart and it isn't going to be pretty. It's going to take a cleansing of the established parties... everyone of them.

What does it cost to insure an EV ?

When can we stop pretending that EV's are environmentally better than IC engine cars? The religious zeal to embrace the falsehood of CO2 being some kind of thermostat is over. The gig is up, the hoax is cooked. Someone needs to tell Mark the Carney.
