Conservative MP blasts Liberal plan to sue Canadians over ‘misinformation’

Conservative MP Roman Baber is blasting a Liberal proposal to sue Canadians over “misinformation,” calling it a threat to free speech.

“I understand that the Memo is not clear on legal strategies that may be implemented against Canadians who are alleged to spread misleading information,” Baber writes in a letter dated Jul. 9.

“However, it proposes that the Ministry itself would determine whether social media posts are “factually incorrect, misleading or out of context.”
