The committee on government operations has voted to reinstate Parliamentary Budget Officer Jason Jacques after he was dismissed by Ottawa last week. Despite being nominated for the position by Prime Minister Mark Carney, all those who voted against his reinstatement were Liberal MPs.

The motion to reinstate Jacques was sponsored by Conservative MP Kelly Block, who asked the committee to recommend the Carney government appoint Jacques to a complete seven-year term as PBO.
