Commissioner says new foreign interference office won’t stop bad actors
Despite the Carney government’s launch of a foreign influence registry on Tuesday, Boegman says “It’s not going to solve foreign interference in Canada.”
Ottawa’s newly launched foreign interference office, which will allow its Commissioner Anton Boegman to “investigate compliance issues and individuals or entities found in violation,” says it will do little to stop outside entities from doing so.
Despite the Carney government’s announcement of a foreign influence registry on Tuesday, Boegman told CBC News in an interview that “It’s not going to solve foreign interference in Canada.”
