CNE receives 50,000 applications amid high youth unemployment
Youth unemployment remains high with the latest data recording it at 12.7 per cent for those aged 15 to 24 last month.
The Canadian National Exhibition fair in Toronto has already received nearly 50,000 applications for its annual job fair, about 10 times more than the 5,000 seasonal positions being offered.
It was a similar story at last year’s job fair, which saw thousands line up as early as 5:30 in the morning amid record- high levels of youth unemployment across Ontario. This year, youth unemployment in the Greater Toronto Area hit its peak at 17 per cent in April.
