Chinese EVs are popping up all over Toronto
Chery brand electric vehicles are being sighted across Toronto as the company prepares to take advantage of Prime Minister Mark Carney's EV relief deal with China.
Chinese EV giant Chery is accelerating its entry into Canada, with several test vehicles recently spotted across the Greater Toronto Area.
According to a report by the automotive blog Drive Tesla Canada, the sightings suggest that the company, currently China’s third-largest automaker, is nearing a formal commercial launch, potentially before the end of 2026.
Pedestrians and commuters in Toronto have identified multiple models from Chery’s specialized sub-brands, OMODA and JAECOO. Several posts on Reddit from Toronto users indicate the sightings are becoming more frequent.
