CBC sting attempted to humiliate RCMP veterans
The RCMP Veterans’ Association say its members were “traumatized” by a CBC Entertainment and APTN activist “ambush” after being lured by a fake media group under the guise of being celebrated.
Following revelations from conservative author Lindsay Shepherd that a CBC entertainment project involving fake media companies and a “Borat-style” political prank troupe targeted not only opposition politicians and political commentators, but also RCMP veterans, a union representing RCMP veterans is speaking out, calling the project an “ambush” that traumatized its members.
Glen Siegersma, chief administrative officer of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Veterans Association, told Juno News in an interview that the association is aware of the ambush and is working with the RCMP on next steps after members were “traumatized” by being blindsided by the CBC production and “attacked” over alleged RCMP wrongdoing they had nothing to do with.
As reported by Juno News last week, academic Frances Widdowson and conservative author Lindsay Shepherd were among several individuals targeted by a fake media company, “Forge Media,” which lured them into interviews where they either were, or were set to be, ambushed by Indigenous activists after being told they were invited to help “reclaim the legacy of Sir John A. Macdonald, Canada’s first prime minister.”
