The CBC’s flagship streaming service CBC Gem was plagued with buffering issues and glitches as the public broadcaster began its coverage of the Winter Olympics, set to open officially tomorrow on Feb. 6.

Frustrated Canadians flooded social media complaining that the CBC Gem streaming platform repeatedly crashed, froze, or booted users out often after forcing them to sit through ads, only to play the same ads all over again.
