In the wake of the assassination of Conservative activist and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, the CBC hosted “hate expert” Barbara Perry during a live broadcast, who falsely claimed that Kirk called for queer people to be “executed.”
Perry, the director of the Centre on Hate Bias and Extremism at Ontario Tech University in Oshawa, Ontario, was platformed by the CBC as a “hate expert” to analyze the assassination of Kirk during a broadcast Thursday morning, one day after Kirk’s murder.

Perry used the moments after the suspected politically motivated killing of Kirk at Utah Valley University on Wednesday to raise concerns that leftists could face vilification following the attack. She also claimed that Charlie Kirk called “queer” people “defective and dangerous and should be exterminated,” which there is no record of him ever doing.
U.S. President Donald Trump released a video statement expressing condolences for Kirk and his family.
“It’s a long past time for all Americans and the media to confront the fact that violence and murder are the tragic consequence of demonizing those with whom you disagree day after day, year after year, in the most hateful and despicable way possible,” Trump said. “For years, those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the world’s worst mass murderers and criminals. This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism that we’re seeing in our country today.”
Perry said Trump’s statements “really irks” and “concerns” her and that his comments were “in line” with Trump’s “politics of vengeance” and “punishing his enemies.”
“He’s talking about the polarizing rhetoric and the vilification, which is very much, you know, laid at his feet in terms of exactly the language that we’re seeing there, the language even that Charlie Kirk uses, you know, vilifying particular groups,” she said. “Talking about the Democrats, for example, as and I quote, ‘standing for everything that God hates,’ queer people are defective and dangerous and should be executed.”
There is no record of Kirk calling for the execution of “queer people” nor calling such people “defective or dangerous.” Kirk has long advocated for free and open discourse in a peaceful democracy.
“That’s sort of polarizing language that contributes to this environment, this loss of civility, and encourages violence directed towards the enemy, whatever the stripe. And we are seeing this from both sides,” Perry claimed.
The CBC-anointed “hate expert” added that the attack is part of a “disturbing trend” against political figures. She claimed the trend is also occurring in Canada, though it hasn’t reached a lethal level yet.
“It is very disconcerting what we’re seeing, especially from, you know, from Trump and his supporters as well, where they are calling him a martyr, there are some in online spaces that are calling for further violence, retaliatory violence, so I really fear that this will lead actually, to an escalation,” she said.

“As you know, the left in particular is vilified in many of these narratives, and quite explicitly by (the) comments from Trump yesterday, which really did put the blame fairly soundly at the feet of the left and of liberals and by extension, Democrats as well.”
The CBC did not respond to True North’s request for comment and correction regarding their guest’s false claims by the deadline.
On Wednesday, the state broadcaster posted a Reuters article about the shooting. The article on the conservative leader’s shooting concluded by referencing “300 politically motivated violent acts” since Trump supporters “attacked” the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Similarly, the state broadcaster, within 12 hours of hearing the news of Kirk’s death, wrote a piece highlighting Kirk’s “most controversial takes.”
Critics of the CBC, including Conservative MP Aaron Gunn, blasted the tax-funded broadcaster for insensitively posting a hit piece on Kirk hours after his death.

The CBC should be ashamed of their hateful comments.
They should be sued and be condemned for their insensitive message as the rest of the country mourns the death of Charlie because this horrific act of violence.
This is just the sort of hateful, anti-conservative rhetoric that irresponsible people MUST start being held accountable for. It is downright HATE speech - it is against the law for crying out loud! Yet, this CBC idiot will likely keep their job and keep on spouting their hate. Chalk up another thick line on the wall for why Alberta should separate!
