Within hours of Kerry-Lynne Findlay winning the BC Conservative leadership with 51 per cent of the vote, the BC NDP and legacy media outlets began portraying her as a Canadian version of Donald Trump, calling her “divisive,” “extreme” and a threat to British Columbians before she had even settled into the role.

The BC NDP and several government ministers wasted no time attacking the Conservatives’ new leader on Saturday. However, many of the criticisms were quickly challenged online.

In a post on X, the official BC NDP account claimed Conservative MLAs do not support Findlay and accused her of embracing “Trump-style politics,” without citing any specific policy or position she has endorsed.
