A Parliamentary committee was told that Prime Minister Mark Carney’s former company, Brookfield, has been busy perfecting a “masterclass in tax avoidance.”
No surprise that Carney/Brookfield practice tax avoidance. That was known before the election. Unfortunately, Canadians' being disgusted by that practice was less than the Trump Derangement psychosis.
Just My view. One would think that carnage would go about to change these greedy tax laws now that He could actually do something about it. I am sure that corporations would pay their taxes if they are fair and equitable. Instead of leaving Our Country. For being a banker, He does not seem to posses many marbles!
Apparently Brookfield/Carney has done everything it can to harm Canadians! Has moved his business from Canada to US, has been hiding taxes, making foreign deals for his Brookfield and nothing for canada... Yep, he is a great Canadian and leader!!!!(sarcasm)
Brookfield has also been buying up small businesses & leaving the business with thier original name. (I discoverd this when I had my furnice serviced by the local company we have been dealing with for 70 years)
It is the concentration of ownership / control that I do not like. When ownership is concentrated we move towards oligarchy which also means corruption. Oligarch plunder wealth, they do not compete or invest. Oligarchy is the opposite of the free market.
Fundamentally, Brookfield is on the path to Facism in the Mussolini sense where big business & big government merge. We fought WWII to get rid of these guys.
Imagine that another crooked PM working hard to bankrupt Canada. Carney was involved in all of these tax avoidance schemes when he was on the board of Brookfield and he is still making money with his shares of Brookfield while he laughs at us poor suckers paying way too much in taxes.
Brookfield must have been given lessons from the unhinged leader of the free world... who takes advantage of all tax loopholes. Fix the loop holes so these people/corporations can't take advantage.

Perhaps the law should change, but if Brookfield is within the law they are within the law. A corporation (or individual) would be irresponsible to pay more taxes than it must.

The tax system is so damn complicated that AI and expensive tax professionals are required to complete a tax return. And every year, overpaid MPs add more complexities. The CRA is understaffed with undertrained, highly paid employees. And taxes fund corruption, fraud, waste, wine, high off the hog bacon, and Banker Carney tax-dodging schemes.
