The July 2025 meeting was set to bring Brookfield executives together with Natural Resources Canada officials to discuss the asset manager’s AI data-centre ambitions in Canada.
Instead, it was quietly cancelled without explanation and never rescheduled, according to records obtained by the Investigative Journalism Foundation.
Carney was never expected to attend and remained screened from matters involving Brookfield. Still, the records have renewed questions over whether the prime minister’s AI agenda could indirectly benefit a company tied to assets held in his blind trust.
