Prime Minister Mark Carney is urging Canadians to travel at home to “send a message” to the United States — weeks after spending part of August in Italy.
“Every time we choose to buy Canadian and travel in Canada, we’re sending a message,” Carney said Tuesday.
Carney made the appeal as Canada’s trade war with the U.S. escalates, according to Blacklock’s Reporter.
“By now you’ve likely heard something about the collapse of our trade talks with the United States,” Carney said in a 15-minute video address.
Travelling in Canada was one of the “most powerful actions” Canadians could take, he said.
“The most powerful actions have come from you: buying Canadian, and traveling in Canada, decisions taken at the kitchen table, not the boardroom table.”
“Nobody in this country is in the stands. Forty million of us are on the ice, and I thank you for that.”
