Carney skirts question on Chinese forced labour camps
Prime Minister Mark Carney dodged a question on forced labour camps in China ahead of the ratification of the China-Canada trade deal
Prime Minister Mark Carney dodged a crucial question about whether the forced labour abuses in communist China would be raised during Finance Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne's trip to Beijing to ink the Canada-China trade deal this weekend.
The question from reporters comes after last week, when Liberal MP Michael Ma, who crossed the floor from the Conservatives at the end of last year, cast doubts about the long-documented human rights abuses by the Chinese dictatorship against Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang, China.
