Prime Minister Mark Carney has reportedly been pushing European leaders in private conversations and meetings to allow Canada to join the European Union as an unprecedented “associate member.”
To be a member of that club could be very expensive with another level of government controlling our lives. If the details ever get exposed I would like a national referendum to see if we want to be a part of Carney’s cronies.
That is the problem isn't it. Starting with EU membership then EU rules, regulations, and laws. Everyone better start learning Mandarin, Arabic, and Indian.
Former European Central Bank President and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi authored a report regarding the future of the EU and his key finding was that the “EU faces a "slow agony" of declining competitiveness unless it undergoes radical change, including increased investment, faster decision-making, and deep, structural reforms.”
Dfaghi reported in his industry analyses of the EU: excessive bureaucracy and regulatory layering have eroded Europe’s industrial edge in trade and energy sectors. The EU bureaucracy has 170,000 pages of regulations.
This sounds like exactly what Carney wants - more rules and the destruction of Canada.
How can he go and make a push for Canada to join the European Union? Has this topic been discussed and passed through government. Our federal government has been on summer shut down and various other days off, so who okayed this decision. I note also this is going on through private conversations. Sounds like this idea is and he did not get government t backing. I am North American and gave no desire to be part of the European Union. why do we have so many MP’s if they are doing nothing?
Words without meaning. There is an ocean between Canada and Europe. Carney should swallow his Liberal pride and negotiate with the United States. If he doesn’t, all Canadians will lose.
There is no way we should become part of the EU, and each province should have a veto. I say this because in the EU they set fish quotas for all member states, no matter what the coast. This is exactly why Norway and Iceland never joined. They knew that in no time flat Spain and others would be all over their coast and their locals would have diminished quotas and be fished out. And Canada would only have one vote on that. And you know that Ottawa has never been interested in the fishery except to use it for the benefit of ON and PQ in trade agreements and recently as a perk of reconciliation instead of giving them a gold mine in Timmins or Val D'or. Our east, west and north coast fisheries would all be in play.
So no thanks EU. Stay on your own side of the ocean.

As part of this commitment, Canada has engaged in a 150-billion-euro ($170 billion+) loan program. Reports indicated that Canada planned to spend billions in new military funding, with about 10 million euros ($16 million) allocated as a fee to join the EU rearmament initiative, and significant funds intended for new defence partnerships.
This means THE CANADIAN RULING CLASSES will now be able to point to the E.U. RULING CLASSES, shrug their shoulders and say the E.U. made the rules and their is nothing Canada can do about it, except go along with whatever the E.U. says. PLUS we will have to pay them for their ruling over us. WAKE UP CANADA!!!

The EU is a mess. Stabbings, rapes, murders. What you get when you import people not compatible with your culture. I don’t want to be a part of that. Carney needs to go.
If Carney wants to be part of the European Union then he should resign and move back to Europe. If Canada is going to partner with any nation it should be the USA. EU? That's just stupid.
Theoretically, all Canadian provinces would have to be heavily involved and politically aligned because the 170,000 pages of regulations would certainly negatively affect areas under provincial jurisdiction.
Being that Carney hasn't talked to anyone about this, there hasn't been a discussion what would constitute an agreement to join the EU.
Regardless, Ottawa would have to change the constitution for this to happen, and we know that won't happen.
But it does seem like another way to ensure that the west separates from Canada.
No details on what an, "associate EU member" means. Does this mean Canada would be part of the EU like France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and take on the Euro as Canada's currency?

Having anything to do with Germany or France is a bad idea. WWI, WWII...etc.
