Carney mocked for planting tree with plastic pot still on
“I did have a career as a gardener,” Carney said jokingly in County Mayo, Ireland.
A ceremonial tree planting by Prime Minister Mark Carney in Ireland is drawing fresh criticism after observers pointed out the sapling appeared to remain inside a plastic container during the photo-op.
Conservative MP Shuv Majumdar said the tree would likely have to be “dug up” and properly replanted later.
“After he’s done this ‘major project,’ someone will have to go back and dig up the tree, remove the plastic pot, then do it right the next time,” Majumdar said. “That tracks.”
