Carney government already $7B over debt projection: PBO

Ottawa has promised Canadians it would borrow $65 billion this year. However, the PBO projects that number to be $72 billion.

The Parliamentary Budget Officer says the Carney government is set to borrow $7 billion more this year than it projected just weeks ago, pushing the federal deficit well past earlier forecasts.

The PBO released its Economic and Fiscal Outlook report on Thursday, which found that the Liberals were already going over what they had told Canadians only weeks ago.
