The current government is very deliberately confiscating the guns for several deliberate reasons:
1) It will force them to borrow money, pushing down the purchasing power of the loonie.
2) It will give a clear advantage to the state (police and army) in any confrontation. That’s what Chavez did in Venezuela.
3) Its an attack on Canadian’s private property rights and thus wears down our expectations of freedom.
4) It will push up the cost of meat, by preventing farmers from eliminating animal pests.
