Canadian troops deployed overseas are being hit with sudden pay cuts after the Liberal government quietly slashed their allowances, giving them little warning and even less time to prepare.

According to a memo leaked to the Ottawa Citizen, soldiers reported receiving a notice of the reductions just a week before the $1,000 to $1,500 reductions to their overseas allowances were expected to take effect.
