Carney cuts gas tax after Poilievre's push for relief at the pump
Prime Minister Mark Carney announces temporary tax suspension to reduce the cost of gas by 10 cents per litre on regular gas, and four cents on diesel.
Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that Ottawa will temporarily suspend the federal fuel excise tax on gas and diesel starting next week to mitigate increased prices brought on by the war in Iran. The move follows demands by the federal Conservatives to give Canadians a break at the pump.
The suspension will come into effect on April 20 run until Labour Day on Sept. 7.
