“Carney Curse” sparks fan panic as Blue Jays begin World Series

Baseball fans are panicking as Prime Minister Mark Carney visited the Toronto Blue Jays the day before they were set to square off in the World Series, moving the “Carney Curse” that previously afflicted the Edmonton Oilers over to Canada’s baseball team.
One X commentator urged Carney not to visit the Blue Jays over a month ago.
“Mark Carney cursed the Edmonton Oilers and they choked in the finals,” the user wrote back in September. “Please keep this man as far away from the Toronto Blue Jays as humanly possible.”
The Carney Curse first came to light in March, when the prime minister skated with the Edmonton Oilers ahead of a game. Following Carney’s arrival, the Oilers and the world’s best player, Connor McDavid, along with the team’s goaltender, Stuart Skinner, were both injured in the very next game.
When the Oilers lost in the Stanley Cup Final later that year, fans once again blamed the “Carney Curse” as an obstacle too large to overcome.
One X user suggested that the curse had been transferred.
The Oiler Curse is now the Blue Jay curse. Anything Carney is associated with turns to sh**,” they said. “Elbows Up Idiots!”
As for the Blue Jays, even without a curse, they are already with their backs against the wall. They are serious underdogs listed around +180, meaning a $100 bet would pay $180. Conversely, the LA Dodgers are -220 favourites to win the World Series, meaning you’d have to bet $220 to win an additional $100.
One X user suggested that they would have to change their bet from the Blue Jays to the Dodgers, citing the Carney Curse as reasoning.
While Carney’s visit was very public and saw the field flooded with cameras and press, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre’s previous visit was the exact opposite. He attended Game 2 of the American League Division Series, watching from the nosebleeds.
The Dodgers are not only the defending champs of the World Series but also have the highest payroll in the major leagues, at over $350 million per year. The Jays are in seventh place, with a $255 million annual payroll.
The players on the Dodgers team need no introduction, as phenom Shohei Ohtani might be the best player the game has seen since Babe Ruth, as he is simultaneously one of the best hitters and pitchers in the league.
The Blue Jays’ return to the World Series marks their first appearance in more than three decades. A recent Angus Reid Institute study found that 39 per cent of Canadians were following the team closely as of last week, with nearly 70 per cent following at least somewhat closely — the highest engagement since the early 1990s.
Toronto’s baseball team has not won a World Series since 1993 — the year former prime minister Kim Campbell led the Progressive Conservatives to the worst defeat of a federal government in Canadian history, falling from a majority government to just two seats.
The World Series begins tonight at 8 p.m. Eastern.
While many fans were doom and gloom in reaction to the Carney Curse, one X user said a prayer.
“Dear Lord, Please put your loving hands around the Blue Jays, lift this curse they call The Carney Touch off the bats, balls and especially our bullpen. Love Canada,” they said.

Carney cursed???
WHO KNEWS???
... OH ...
A lot of people knew and experience that from him almost daily.
... Yes... Keep Photo-op Carney as far away from the Blue Jays as possible and also from the Canadian people and from their pocket book.
BUT... Right now... Keeping him away from the Jays will have to suffice.
Who gives a flying f@&k about the bluejays? Canada is in shambles, we need to focus on the Liberal regime in Ottawa. I will not watch one bluejays game, Focus is an acronym, meaning, "F27k off cause you're stupid", and Canadians have been very focused in the past decade!
