Carney creates new chief operating officer for former Hillary Clinton campaigner
Prime Minister Mark Carney creates a new chief operating officer role in the Prime Minister’s Office and gives it to a woman who served as a key staffer in Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign.
Prime Minister Mark Carney is reportedly creating a new position in the Prime Minister’s office and granting it to Maia Johnson, who currently serves as a senior adviser to Carney on Canada–U.S. relations and was named in the WikiLeaks-published John Podesta emails as a key figure in Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign.
The new position was first reported by the Globe and Mail, which cited “government sources,” but the news hasn’t been confirmed by the PMO yet, and the PMO was not immediately available for comment.
