Carney appoints former Supreme Court justice as Governor General
“As Mary Simon has, Louise Arbour will represent the best of Canada to Canadians and the world,” said Carney.
Prime Minister Mark Carney has appointed former Supreme Court of Canada justice Louise Arbour to succeed Mary Simon as the new Governor General.
“As Mary Simon has, Louise Arbour will represent the best of Canada to Canadians and the world,” said Carney on Tuesday during her appointment ceremony at the National Gallery of Canada. “Louise Arbour has held nearly every office a Canadian jurist can hold, and several that no Canadian had held before.”
