Carney appoints his chief strategist to Senate
Carney announced that Ottawa would be "removing the non-partisanship criterion for Senate appointments" while appointing his chief strategist to the Upper Chamber.
Prime Minister Mark Carney announced several Senate appointments on Tuesday, including the Liberals’ Executive National Campaign Director and Chief Strategist during his 2025 election campaign - Thomas Pitfield.
A release from the Prime Minister’s Office said the “government is also removing the non-partisanship criterion for Senate appointments.”
